Tumour Ablations

Traditional therapies for cancer include surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. More recent advances have added another tool to the anti-cancer arsenal – thermal ablation, whereby tumours are heated or cooled to temperatures that cause the tumour cells to die.

This treatment was pioneered at The Middlesex Hospital (UCLH) where Professor Bill Lees and Dr Alice Gillams, who are internationally renowned experts in this field, run one of the longest established and largest practices in the world. The Harley Street Clinic established this service in 2000 when it was the first private hospital in the UK to offer this therapy.
